Siena

Heading towards Rome, we left the major A1 Motorway and worked our way through the countryside where we enjoyed a terrific lunch at Greve in Chianti - which we had discovered by chance having parked on the side of the road and then ran to escape a mid-morning shower (yes - it does rain in Italy !!)

Love these little cars - bit slow but good to watch

Time out .......

Lovely stone walled roads

Enjoying a glass of Chianti, the Austin Healy car club arrived and added to the ambience of the village square.

Reminds us of Chianti in Adelaide

Just one of the Austin Healy car club cars ... nice one, love the colour

We had a good day before it started to rain quite heavily with accompanying thunder and lightening so headed for hillside site which had panoramic views and large pool. Le Soline Camping was some 20km south of Siena with many olive trees and in a good position which allowed us to visit the many historic and cultural places in the area.

Beautiful pool and facilities overlooking the valley
