Lake Forggensee / Brunner

It was 30 degrees early in the day. Not uncommon in Australia but uncommon for this part of the world. We did some van chores and then enjoyed a swim in the Lake before riding some 8km return to visit the world famous Walt Disney Neuschwanstein Castle.

On our way, Helena spent some time with the horses who were waiting on the side of the road to take tourists to the top.

Beautiful animals - very sensitive and didn't like being left in the sun !!

Neuschwanstein Castle

View from the top was very impressive

Helena wasn't overly impressed because the building didn't seem to have the character of an older building - too clean and too perfect. The tour we joined was unusual because we were allocated a Tour Number and Time and then joined a group of others, rather than the norm - which is being allowed to walk freely through an area and to be able to stop and seek information thru an English translation. Much better and more relaxed. Our tour guide was rather unusual and most in this group were probably thinking about him rather than looking at the rooms on display. Grant as a little more relaxed about the tour but agreed with some aspects of Helenas thoughts.

Our camp site overlooked part of the Lake and was very pleasant and we especially enjoyed the company of local dog, Maybe who was travelling with her owners from another region in Germany. She was a lovely dog and would stroll over to us in the morning as we had breakfast, her nose an inch away from your bowl or plate. She was also very obedient - which probably has something to do with her owners carrying a little pack of 'treats'. She quickly gets the messsage which is more than we can say from other dogs we have met. All great four, and two legged creatures.
