Stuttgart - Germany

Surprise, surprise. Our next camping site was within 10 minutes walk to the Mercedes-Benz Museum and we spent 4 hours wandering around a fantastic display of driving through the years - of understanding how Mercedes and Benz became one company and where they are today. It was very impressive.

Mercedes-Benz

We took a drive to where driving was invented. The trail of mobility took us from 1886 which has captured the public imagination for 125 years. We followed the footsteps of the two great inventors and discovered how it all began. We found exhibits from every period of automotive history, vehicles once owned by famous celebrities and showpieces from every field of motorised transport. It was done extremely well and we both enjoyed looking at how it relates to todays vehicles and how it may look in the future.

Fantastic display

Grant tried out the Mercedes-McLaren simulator and shared the capsule with another enthusiast. It wasn't out of this world but it was an experience for one of us.

The Museum Shop offered the largest selection of Mercedes-Benz proudcts anywhere in the world and it really was quite sensational. That said, we bravely walked away with a badge for Helenas' hat.  The 'Hat' is looking good now and is covered with badges from all over Europe and is a visual reminder of the wonderful time we have experienced.

Following day we joined up with Julian and Carol who were on holiday and travelling around on a very well packed motorbike. They come from Dover in the UK and we enjoyed their company on the rain ride into  Stuttgart city before sharing a drink. We walked around for a while before going our seperate ways. They were heading to the Mercedes-Benz Museum and we were going to the Porsche Museum. Yipee.

Another amazing display which included some 80 vehicles and many small exhibits. We wandered around for a couple of hours and enjoyed the new vehicle display before deciding on the model, colour and interior finish for the one Helena might call her own one day !!  Please refer all enquiries to Lucas Smith.

Slick, very slick

Wow, isn't this something?

Love the colour

This will go very, very fast .......

On our way to Luxembourg, we called into the Mercedes Trucks depot at Worth and one of us spent some time looking at the different vehicles before driving around the plant and seeing all the new ones lined up for delivery.  Guess who that was?
